“Gdynia is for living, Gdansk is for working and Sopot is for having fun” – I heard from one taxi driver during my last visit in Tricity.
Maybe from a tourist’s perspective it looks bit different – Gdansk is for sightseeing and Gdynia for chillout, but Sopot has one same status no matter if you are a resident or visitor of the Tricity 🙂
What to do there and how to plan a visit? Yeah, I have my favourite places to eat and rest in Sopot and I can share them with you, but in general don’t plan anything.
Just book a room close to the seaside and save time for resting on the beach, walking, doing outdoor sport, enjoying bars, restaurants and having fun. This is what Sopot has the best to offer.
During my last visit I was staying in Eureka – just restored, over 100 years old villa with a style typical for the entire old Sopot architecture. I caught very good price on booking.com and the place was amazing! New, but with the soul and history, clean and located just by the sea, with great bar and friendly staff. But you will find plenty of options depends on your budget and needs. Airbnb is also very popular in Sopot.
When it comes to eat, you can choose between many great places offering fresh fishes like Bar Przystań or Tawerna Rybaki, super cool modern restaurants like White Marlin and best breakfast places on polish Baltic Sea Coast like Caly Gawel. If it’s overcrowded, try Dwie Zmiany or Las Cafe. For craft ice creams go to Flaming Latte or Bacio di Caffe. From beach bars I recommend Zatoka Sztuki, or smaller ones like Dorsz & Przyjaciele.
Don’t forget to visit the pier – first opened in 1827, the pier in Sopot is the longest wooden pier in Europe, 511.5 m!
Last but not least – for us Poles, a vacation by the sea without eating a waffle is not a vacation. You can buy them on every corner, obligatory with whipped cream and fruits or chocolate 😀 😀 😀
I love to come back to polish Baltic Sea Coast. This year I brought with me there my boyfriend, who is Spaniard. Because Baltic Sea Coast has nothing in common with Mediterranean Coast, I was very curious about his impressions. And you know what? He wants to come back as soon as possible!
Summarizing… sea, sun, sand and Sopot. Come to Poland! 😀
