Café Jen – best breakfast place in Prague

This is by far my number one breakfast place ever. I’ve been there many times, tried plenty of different menus and I’m always leaving this place with a big smile on my face. Maybe it’s only because we have very similar taste, we like same ingredients and the way to prepare coffee…

Or maybe they are just super good! 🙂

Breakfast at Café Jen is my obligatory stop during every visit in Prague.

I associate this place with after-party regenerative Saturdays 😉 or lazy and calm, long Sundays. I love the food, appreciate the local style of the place and I’m addicted to theirs coffee made by amazing La Marzocco coffee machine.

Prague is magic and has a lot of amazing, historical-related places to see. You will find in the internet plenty of websites with tips and top places to visit. It belongs to this group of cities, which sightseeing is possible on foot and everything is located close to each other. In the center, on every corner there is something interesting to see!

I truly love this city ❤ ❤ ❤

Café Jen is not located in the inner city (but close – for location details, see the “info corner” below) and has nothing in common with any historical place, but I truly recommend to include it in your list of “top must see places in Prague”.

It was founded by two Czech girls and represents modern approach to running a small, local business. If you want to see how young, post-communist generation deals nowadays in Czech Republic, this will be a great opportunity.

Simple in its style, this staff friendly and cozy place welcomes you every working day from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. and during weekends from 9 a.m. up to 6 p.m. as well.

If I had to describe the Jen’s menu, I would use just few simple words as:

  • aromatic coffee,
  • fresh crusty bread,
  • healthy avocado,
  • eggs, eggs, eggs, lots of eggs,
  • sweet additive based on nuts, dates, chocolate or oats,
  • best in the town cakes!

They cook healthy, from good quality ingredients and put all their heart in it. During the week you can enjoy classic menu with scrambled eggs, sausages, sandwiches and porridge, but during the weekend there is always a big celebration of free time by serving “Special weekend breakfast”, which differs every weekend. What it will be, you can always check on Friday, visiting their FB or Instagram profile. You don’t need any reservation.

If you ever visit this place, please let me know if you liked it same as me!!! 🙂

  1. Hi Magda– Looks like such a pleasant place to sit and talk over lunch… We’re traveling to Prague in June for a wedding there– so I’m noting this spot! thanks.

  2. Hi Rhonda! Ahh June in Prague will be beautiful! 🙂 But also bit crowded… so if you will look for a place to breathe 😉 Cafe Jen is a great idea! Anyway, I wish you a great time in Prague, I’m sure you will enjoy.

  3. Hi! You have to make your wish come true, because Prague is amazing! In Prague every season has some advantages, but my favourites are spring and autumn. During that time city center is less crowded and during spring all wakes up to life and people are crazy to start street-life after months of low temperatures outside. Autumn is charming as well – beautiful scenery with colorful leaves and stone streets shimmering from the rain (yes it can rain diring this time). In the summer you have much bigger chances for great weather but also big crowds – you will cross with groups of tourists not only from Europe but United States and Asia as well. On the other hand you will be able to do Vltava cruise and enjoy beer in the garden. Winter means Christmas atmosphere with Christmas markets on every corner and warm wine drinking on the street (yummy!). Summarizing – all season has advantages, but bearing in mind that winter is finishing soon and high season starts in June, I will recommend you to come for some weekend in late April or May, it will be great:)

  4. Thank you so much for your reply, I was imagining that Prague is gorgeous in all seasons but hearing your perspective is so helpful! We might try visiting soon but if not Autumn sounds magical. I also want to do at some point an European Christmas Market tour so will make sure to include Prague there too. Happy travels! 🙂

  5. The bigges advantage of visiting Prague now is much much lower number of other turists. If you wake up in the morning, you can even enjoy Charles Bridge alone! 😱😉 And not too much sun during the day can be replaced with “too much” beer or hot wine 😉
